My first Sun Salutation was in a friend's backyard in Santa Fe, NM, over 20 years ago. I didn't even know that it was yoga. From that point on, my journey of practicing and studying yoga has been influenced by a desire to find balance through awareness, honoring both the light and dark aspects of life, the seen and unseen energies. As a mother, I began practicing with my children and found that it offers an innate sense of discovery of self, natural rhythms and energy all around. I am a Certified YogaKids Instructor and Mentor with additional training in a variety of yogic traditions including Iyengar, Ashtanga, Vinyasa Flow, and most recently Yin Yoga. I have deeply appreciated the teaching influences of Seane Corn (Vinyasa Flow, Detox Yoga & the Chakras), Sarah Powers (Yin & Yang Yoga), Scott Blossom (Yoga-Ayurveda & Chinese Medicine) and Beryl Bender Birch (Power Yoga & Mindfulness-as we age). I currently teach YogaKids, Teen Yoga and Adult Yoga. I have participated in providing yoga to Hartford's inner city children at Camp Courant, and offer yoga as part of school curriculum and after-school programs. I find inspiration and refuge when I am outside in nature, whether hiking, biking, walking, sitting or stargazing. One of the gifts of yoga is that it invites me inside, to connect with my internal landscape for compassion, guidance & illumination. My classes integrate yang postures (active, warming, rhythmic, focused on the outer layers of the body), yin postures (passive, cooling, longer held, accessing on the inner layers of the body), and healthy alignment-all with a focus on integrating body and breath for physical, mental and emotional health and balance. I live in Simsbury, CT with my husband, 2 kids & 3 cats.
